Highpointers Foundation Silent Auction

A fundraising event to benefit the Highpointers Foundation

Maurice Herzog

Herzog’s classic book about the first conquest of an 8,000 meter peak in 1950.

This is the most popular narrative in mountaineering literature, and the first to become a bestseller. The French team discovered the approach to Annapurna, and made the 1st ascent.

January 7th - March 23rd, 2010
4:00 PM MST

Incremental bids must be at least $10 higher than the previous bid.
The high bidder on the last day wins, and has 1 week to submit payment.

Anyone can participate.

The book can be delivered in person at MS-10, or sent via registered mail.

All proceeds benefit the Highpointers Foundation. The amount donated is tax deductible beyond the ordinary value of the book; consult your tax professional.

A rare signed edition!

Herzog, who lost most of his fingers and toes on the climb, signs his books with great difficulty.

The dust jacket is in Fair-Good shape. This is the US Edition - 3rd printing in 1953. The book was first published in 1952 in France, the UK and the USA.

This is one of the best selling mountaineering books of all time, recently surpassed by Jon Krakauer and Joe Simpson.

Ends 4:00 PM MST March 23rd, 2010
